Africa-Well | Mental Health Research, Training & Well-Being in Africa
Across Africa, many children, young people, families, and communities carry the weight of psychosocial stress, mental health challenges, fragile support systems, and limited access to practical tools that help people thrive. Africa-Well exists because good intentions are not enough. People need research grounded in context, training that builds real skills, programmes that work in everyday settings, and advocacy that helps institutions respond better. That is the space we work in: where evidence meets people, and where knowledge is turned into action
Research & Evidence Generation
Training, Mentorship & Advocac
We conduct basic and applied research on mental health, public health, psychosocial well-being, behaviour change, resilience, and human development. Our work is designed to answer questions that matter in African contexts and to produce evidence that can inform action.
We design, adapt, pilot, and implement contextually grounded interventions that support healthier families, stronger communities, and improved well-being. Our programmes are shaped by evidence, informed by local realities, and refined through learning.
We support students, youth, practitioners, organisations, and local stakeholders to strengthen research skills, psychosocial competence, and practical well-being tools. This includes research training, mentorship, and school- and university-based sessions that help young people build character strengths, resilience, and life skills.
We work with government agencies, professional bodies, schools, universities, and community partners to translate evidence into dialogue, strategy, and systems change. Our advocacy is practical, collaborative, and rooted in what communities and institutions need.
